Terms and Conditions

1. About This Agreement

This Agreement is a legal document which sets out your rights and obligations and those of "The Scout Association" (a charity registered in England under registration no. 306101), "ScoutsReunited", "we" or "us", in relation to this site and the services offered through the "ScoutsReunited" Service. By registering for ScoutsReunited, you agree to the terms of this Agreement, and you confirm that agreement every time you use it.

Visitors to ScoutsReunited who do not register to become a full member (see clause 4 below) also agree that they are bound by this Agreement each time they access

ScoutsReunited. This Agreement may change as specified in clause 15 of this Agreement.

In order to use ScoutsReunited, you must have Internet access and all the software and ability to use the web and email.

"Scout Unit" refers to a Scout Group, District, County/Area or National/Area or National Unit of The Scout Association.

"User" refers to either the subscriber, any visitor to the web site or persons permitted to use the service.

2 Personal Information and Data Protection

The Personal Information and Data Protection Statement forms part of this Agreement and must be construed in conjunction with this Agreement. ScoutsReunited will take every precaution to avoid personal data being used for improper purposes. However, by the very nature of this type of service the information you subscribe will be available to other users world wide and will therefore fall outside the European Union Data Protection zone. ScoutsReunited will automatically assume that you agree to this policy when the user consents to this Agreement.

3 Types of membership

People who register on ScoutsReunited become "members". They must be at least 18 years of age. The membership divides between those who decide to pay our fee for a full annual membership (which we call "Full Members"), and those who do not ("Standard Members").

As well as being able to browse ScoutsReunited like any visitor to it, registered Standard Members may:

  • receive emailed information selected during the registration process such as notification when a new person has registered for their Scout Group/Unit
  • receive emailed messages, to the address provided during the registration process;
  • post their name and notes about themselves on the ScoutsReunited site;
  • update or change any details or selections at any time

When you upgrade to a full membership you will have access to additional services which mean you can:

  • send email messages to addresses of both Full and Standard Members and so start to make contact with old friends;
  • enter details of Groups/Districts etc. which are currently not listed on the database;
  • link together two entries for the same Group under different names;
  • Upload images linked to their details.

Should the user decide to become a Full Member, and pay the full membership fee, you are agreeing to take the full membership we make available to you after that fee is paid. You will not be entitled to a refund of that fee. Your full membership will last for twelve months from the date of payment. If you wish to continue with full membership after that twelve-month period, we will enable you to do so, providing you pay the then-current fee and agree to the terms and conditions current at that time. We reserve the right to change the amount of the fee for full membership, the period which it covers, the services which it enables you to access, the services of the site and other operating parameters from time to time.

4. Operation of the service

ScoutsReunited reserves the right to withdraw or modify one or more aspects of the ScoutsReunited where we have legal or technical reasons to do so.

ScoutsReunited is intended to be used by its members for the purposes referred to in Clauses 3 and 4. Accordingly, members must not:

  • use the access to ScoutsReunited, or information gathered from it, for the sending of unsolicited bulk email (known as spaming).
  • include an email address, postal address, phone number, the address of any website, or any other information which is intended to facilitate direct communication, in material which is posted on ScoutsReunited - Full Members, and the recipients of their emails, can share this information, should they wish, once direct contact has been made;
  • place material on, or otherwise use, ScoutsReunited for any business or commercial purpose;

There may also be times when ScoutsReunited becomes unavailable, (on a planned or unplanned basis). For security or other reasons, we may require you to change your password or other information, which facilitates access to ScoutsReunited.

5. Information posted on the site by members

The User should be aware that ScoutsReunited does not pre-screen or monitor all of the material contributed by members. However we do randomly monitor the site to support the Child Protection Policy of The Scout Association.

We reserve the right, if a member appears to us to be in breach of any provision of this Agreement: (a) to suspend or terminate any member's access to ScoutsReunited, or parts of it, (b) to edit, or require the member to edit material posted on ScoutsReunited.

Any person whose access has been suspended or terminated must not re-register for, or re-access, ScoutsReunited without our prior consent. 6. Withdrawal of material and termination of membership

Each member acknowledges that ScoutsReunited are entitled to withdraw any material on the site which appears whether based on information received from members or others, or our own determination to be capable of breaching any part of this Agreement, or to bring ScoutsReunited into disrepute. 8 Fees relating to use of the service
