ScoutsReunited - Privacy Statement

ScoutsReunited and The Scout Association take the issue of privacy very seriously and we are committed to protecting and respecting our users' privacy. This Privacy Statement sets out our current data processing practices and should be read in conjunction with our Terms & Conditions. 1. The Information We Collect 

The only circumstances in which we will provide any of your personal data to a third party for non commercial purposes are those contained in this Privacy Policy.

2. Registration Information. 

Once a Member selects a Group/Unit, some or all of the Registration Information held for that Member, except for the email address, will be available at the listing for that Group/Unit. When you register with ScoutReunited, we ask for your name, email address and postal code. We usually also capture your IP address at the time you register.

3. Sharing of data 

We may share data supplied by you (or collected about you) with other parts of the Scout Association e.g. Outdoors Ltd.

4. Advertising. 

ScoutsReunited may include interactive advertising for other businesses as part of the site operation. We may use, and provide to third parties, your contact details if you have given us permission to do so.

5. Initial Contact. 

The only initial way of making contact with a contact found on ScoutsReunited is to enter a message which we will send on the member's behalf. The email sent will include the sending Full Member's email address so that the recipient can respond to the sender directly. This means by sending a contact message, the sending Member is disclosing his/her email address. Members may change their email address at any time through Your Details. Members' personal notes must not include their email address. Attempts to include an email address will result in the termination of your membership. You should be aware that if your email system automatically responds to a contact email, your email address will be revealed to the person attempting to make contact with you.

6. Legal Jurisdiction. 

All personal information and details held on and processed by computers situated in the United Kingdom.

7. Further Information. 

ScoutsReunited will as part of it’s normal operation send out to information emails. Members can decide to ask for these emails as they register.

8. Direct debiting 

This data will be collected and held electronically when the facility becomes available.

9. Credit/Debit Card information. 

We use Worldpay Plc, to process your payments. WorldPay process online payments for other services the Scout Association offers. They operate a secure server using state of the art encryption technology to process payments. This approach ensures that Members’ credit card details are not provided to The Scout Association. Customers should be aware that Worldpay plc may process and hold your credit card information outside the United Kingdom.

10. Disclosure of data by order of a Court and Security 

We reserve the right to communicate a Member's personal information as we hold to third parties who are empowered by regulation, statute or order of a court.

We have security measures in place to protect our customer database. Access to this database is restricted internally. However, it remains each Member's responsibility:

  • to keep their password secret;
  • to protect against unauthorised access to your personel Details;
  • to log off from the ScoutsReunited Service when not using it; and
  • to ensure against use by anyone else of the ScoutsReunited Service through the machine that Member uses while they are "logged on" to theScoutsReunited Service.

11. Cookies. 

ScoutsReunited uses small files known as "cookies" to enhance your use of the site. They have the following functions:

  • To hold Members’ login information. This option can be turned off by switching the "Remember Your Password" option to "No" in your registration details.
  • To ensure the best use of the Scoutsreunited Service by Members, by means of a temporary cookie. These cookies disappear when the Member’s browser session ends, or if the Member clicks the "sign off" text.

12. Information gathered upon registration. 

When you sign up for the ScoutsReunited, you provide us with some optional and required information. They can be changed by you at anytime by entering the update my details section of the site.

13. Opt-out policy 

You may have your registration details removed from our system at any time. Contact us at ScoutsReunited@scout.org.uk and we will remove all your details making sure you send us your registered email address

We provide Members with the opportunity to opt-out of receiving e-mailed Newsletters which they have previously opted to receive. This opt-out can be enacted by making appropriate selections on your details screen.

14. Links to third party sites 

You can use ScoutsReunited to link directly to other sites. ScoutsReunited is in no way liable for or responsible for the conduct, content or privacy practices, of these sites.
